 Meet our Staff & Board

Lonnie Drouhard
Administrator

Lonnie arrived at CWS in 2007 with the enrollment of his daughter, Samara, in Ms. Anne Marie's Willow Wind Kindergarten. After a year at CWS as a parent, he joined the Board of Trustees in 2008.  When CWS began its search for a new Administrator, Lonnie threw his hat into the mix; seeing it as an opportunity to realize a long-time desire of getting back into the education field and combining his varied experiences. Lonnie assumed the role of school administrator in July of 2009. His formal education includes: a BS in Biology from Kent State University, a MS in Ecology from Ohio University, and he completed the Math and Science Education program at Oregon State University. Lonnie has been working in the field of education and with children for over 15 years. He has taught both formally and informally to a range of age groups from kindergarten through adults and has additional work experience in the fields of Ecology, Wilderness Guiding and Business Administration. Lonnie's real passion has always been the education of children and has taught science in a public elementary school, a 6th - 12th grade Charter School and at a community college. He left the teaching world to work as a wilderness guide leading wilderness therapy expeditions for at-risk teens.  Later he assumed a manager's role for the same wilderness therapy company and spent the next 5 years as the Human Resources Director and Executive Team Partner with the company.

Lonnie and his wife Cindy have called Corvallis home since 1999. Here they enjoy an active life with their daughter, Samara. You will often find them on walks at Willamette Park, backpacking in the mountains, taking extended road trips, playing disc golf, gardening or simply enjoying family time together.

Paul Carlson
Enrollment Director

Paul and his family are new to the Corvallis area. He and his wife, Margie, and their three young children, Isabella, Eva and Liam, recently moved from Central Oregon where Paul was the administrator at the Waldorf School of Bend.  His deep desire to learn about society through history, political science and literature led him to a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at the University of Oregon.  He was able to further his education through several years of teaching and traveling throughout Central and South America.  Traveling and experiencing other cultures are passions of his, and he has had the great fortune of visiting twenty-five countries on five different continents.

With a creative spirit for life, both he and his wife started several businesses. For a number of years, they worked as a team remodeling environmentally friendly houses. They also owned and operated an organic vineyard in Southern Oregon. These were amazing times in that they were able to balance their creativity and imagination with the world of business.

Paul and Margie’s quest for an education for their children that was both creative and nurturing led them to Waldorf. Their children have been enrolled in various Waldorf schools since preschool. They now attend the Corvallis Waldorf School and are thriving in their new community.

Paul is currently attending his second year of Waldorf Administration at the Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento and working toward his MBA at Marylhurst University in Portland.

Diane Martin
Office Manager

Diane Martin was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon. She lived in Germany for a year and Denmark and Sweden for 15 months during her childhood, an experience that greatly influenced her world view. Diane studied nursing, nutrition and public health in college and has degrees in Clinical Nutrition and Public Health. She has spent the majority of her adult years working or studying in the healthcare field, staying at home with her young daughters, gardening, running, and volunteering. She and her husband have three daughters and a granddaughter and live in the country with a menagerie of chickens, dogs, rabbits and cats. Diane has been involved at the Corvallis Waldorf School since her youngest daughter, Allie, started kindergarten in 2005. She is grateful to be utilizing her management skills in the educational environment.
