The Oak

By Nina Storniolo
Grade 6

Black like a shadow in the dead of night

Silhouetted against the bright sky

Scattered branches spread like a fan

Open wide to the birds of the land

So barren and lovely in the brown earthy field

Tumbled branches lay by its side

Remains of a storm survived

Peeking between its branches,

A new tree, behold!

Small and little next to mighty and bold

One of over 800 Waldorf schools in worldwide, the Corvallis Waldorf School was begun in 1993 by a group of parents with a strong commitment to the educational experience provided by the Waldorf curriculum.

The school now has preschool and kindergarten through middle school. Classes offer a full and enriching curriculum, true to Waldorf school tradition and philosophy, which educates the whole child. Pride is also taken in our community of adults that share in the celebration of life-long learning and the arts.

Working together to strengthen and deepen the child's experience at our school, the faculty offers a balance of classical and creative education they are proud to share with the children and the community.

The Corvallis Waldorf School admits students of any race, color, religion, national and ethnic origin.

Our intention is to educate independent thinking people who meet life with courage and respond with initiative and creativity to the needs of the world and their fellow human beings.
